SageGlass® - Electronically Tintable Glass The revolutionary new technology called electrochromic glass, in VELUX electronically tintable skylights, allows full control of the amount of light and heat that enters a room. As an electric current passes through the glass, it darkens. Reversing the current causes the glass to lighten again. Best of all, it takes less electricity to operate a house full of SageGlass® products than to operate a single 40-watt light bulb. SageGlass glazing is produced by coating glass at the factory with multiple layers of ceramic thin films that in total are less than 1/50th the thickness of a human hair. Applying a low DC voltage causes the active electrochromic layers to darken. Reversing the voltage polarity causes the layers to lighten. SageGlass is currently available as an option on a limited range of Velux skylights. Miami-Dade Glass Miami-Dade glass is a laminated, low-E2, argon gas-filled glass designed for maximum safety and energy efficiency. When installed in the FCM fixed skylight, this specially designed glass meets the stringent requirements for Miami-Dade County (certification NOA 04-0805.01, expiration date: November 10, 2010) and the Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ). FCM skylight sizes 2222, 2246 and 4646 are standard sizes with Miami-Dade glass. These sizes are stocked and can be ordered online for fast delivery. Comfort Glass - Aluminum Exterior Standard in all Velux products, Comfort Glass consists of two panes of tempered safety glass dual-sealed and injected with argon gas.  A double layer of our exclusive Low-E coating provides excellent thermal performance. 1.Tempered Safety Glass. 2.Specially Formulated Low-E coating for heat gain and fade protection. 3.Argon gas injected for increased thermal performance. ComfortPlus Glass - Aluminum or Copper Exterior Also available is our laminated, Low-E2 ComfortPlus Glass for maximum protection and indoor comfort.  ComforPlus features a laminated pane of glass for added safety and protection from fade-causing rays.
